Frequently Asked Questions
How do you dress at weddings?
I normally wear a nice suit and tie with a vest underneath.
I wear my top coat during dinner music, but once we open the dance floor, the top
coat usually comes off and the party begins.
Do you always use disco type lights at all your events?
Nope. If you don't want any
type of disco dance lights, I won't use them, but I can tell you from experience
that flashing party lights are a great mood effect when the dance floor opens. I
also use Par 64 LEDs for nice mood lighting.
Do you charge extra to attend ceremony rehearsals?
Nope. If you're hiring me to provide
the ceremony music and dj the reception too, I will attend one ceremony rehearsal
at no extra charge provided the ceremony is within 30 minutes travel time from me.
Will you be the MC and keep the party on track?
Absolutely! When you hire me for your
wedding, I will follow a wedding plan to make sure we cover everything at the appropriate
times. I will announce everything on the mic and get the guests excited for each
part of your reception.
How long does it take you to set up your stuff?
That depends on how much stuff is
required for your event. To bring my full setup with all my lights takes about 2
hours to set it all up. That includes me changing into the appropriate attire. I
normally like to arrive at least 2 hours in advance to make sure everything runs
smoothly.
Do you provide a contract?
Yes. When you decide to hire me as your DJ, I send you
a contract to sign and return to me with a deposit. All of that is discussed with
you during our event planning sessions.
Am I allowed to tell you what songs I want to be played?
Sure you can, but please
keep in mind that on average only about 20 songs can be played in an hour. So if
the dance portion of your reception is scheduled to be 2 hours long, only about 40
songs can be played. It’s best to tell me what “genres” of music you want played
and then give me a few of your fav songs and I can mix them in during the party.
Remember your guests will probably want to request songs as well.
Do you provide karaoke too?
Yes! I have an extensive library of great sounding karaoke
soundtracks in multiple genres. I provide 2 wireless mics in case of duets. I don't
recommend karaoke for very formal receptions, but if the bride wants it, I provide
it.
